Flamenco is Andalusian, not Catalan, and Barcelona has spent decades being slightly defensive about that. What the city does have is a handful of small venues where the performance is close, unamplified and genuinely good — and a great many where it is not.
The difference is room size. This evening is built around a candlelit baroque palace in El Born that seats a few dozen people, with dinner beforehand at a bar a few minutes away. Small room, early booking, no dinner-and-show package — those are the three rules.

Is flamenco in Barcelona authentic?
In the small venues, yes — the performers are professionals and several are Andalusian. The large dinner-show operations aimed at coach groups are a different product. Room size is the most reliable signal.
Should I book the dinner-and-show package?
Usually not. The food is the weakest part and the price premium is significant. Eat properly nearby beforehand and buy the show ticket on its own.
How long is a flamenco show?
Around an hour at the intimate venues, which is the right length for something this intense. Arrive early — seating is often unreserved and the front rows matter enormously in a small room.
