This is the night out that works when nobody in the group wants to make a decision. It runs on a simple Barcelona logic: start with cava and anchovies standing up in a hundred-year-old bar, move to a cocktail bar that takes its craft seriously, and end wherever the music is still going.
Everything except the last stop sits inside El Born and the Gothic Quarter, so you are never more than a ten-minute walk from the next place. Barcelona eats late — arriving at the first bar before 20:00 means an empty room, and the city genuinely does not get going until well after midnight.

Before you go
What time should we actually start?
Around 20:00 for the first stop. Barcelona dinner starts at 21:00 or later, cocktail bars fill from 23:00, and clubs stay quiet until 01:00. Starting at 18:00 means drinking alone in an empty bar.
Do we need to book anything?
The vermouth and cava bars are standing-room and never take reservations — you queue or you squeeze in. Paradiso is small and gets a line; going early in the evening is the easy way around it. Only the jazz club is worth booking ahead.
Is this walkable, or do we need taxis?
The El Born and Gothic stops are all within a ten-minute walk of each other on flat ground. Only the final stop may need a short taxi, and Barcelona taxis are easy to find on the main avenues after midnight.
