The Picasso Museum works best as an early stop — it holds his formative Barcelona years rather than the famous later work, which is exactly why it rewards a fresh head. Finish with vermouth, because that is what the neighbourhood does at the end of an afternoon.

Should I book museum tickets in advance?

For the Picasso Museum, yes — it uses timed entry and the walk-up queue in high season is long. Contemporary galleries are usually fine on the day.

Which day should I avoid?

Monday. Most Barcelona museums close, including several on this route. Sunday afternoons are also worth checking — some museums close early or offer free entry, which means crowds.

Is this too much walking between stops?

No — the El Born and Raval stops are twenty minutes apart on flat streets, and the walk through the old city is part of the point rather than dead time between museums.
